Brigintine Beach, NJ

What a perfect day at the beach!!! GREAT weather, GREAT friends, all the kids took naps on the beach, and I didn't get too badly burnt. Good waves, yummy food....Ahhhh...nothing but good memories.

 

 Gabby ate so much sand. I kept waiting for her to quickly stop after tasting it the first time...nope. She loved it. She ate more sand than any ACTUAL food.

We ended the day eating at a restaurant with our friends. Brooklynn insisted on "sugar pizza" which they didn't have. I had to special order it, and they didn't have cinnamon, only cocoa powder and sugar....and it was really yummy.

Our Memorial Day

So we all decided to go to the beach for Memorial Day! We made great time on the way down, it only took an hour and 10 minutes! We were so excited. Brooklynn was so excited to be back on the beach, she kept laughing and squealing. We had to pin her down and put sunscreen on her and then she just took off running to play. This lasted all day. The way back home...took us 3 hours. Not exciting. Traffic was horrible. The first 30 miles at least was bumper to bumper traffic and then the rest of the way we got to go maybe 40 mph? It was also start and stop....oh horrible. The worst part was...my air conditioning is broken in my car and since we were going so slowly it was just hot hot hot. When it was finally a little cooler we passed a sign that said it was 88 degrees. (So that meant it was who knows how hot?) Luckily Brooklynn still slept in the car on the way home. Overall we had a great day, it was so nice on the beach.

Airplane!

One more thing Brooke loves about the beach: there are airplanes that fly back and forth over the water with banners advertising ALL DAY LONG. Brooke stops whatever she is doing to point them out to us and watch. I love her.

Brooklynn didn't sleep as well on the beach as we hoped. I think she was having way too much fun. (She slept on the way home, though.) We were trying to calm her down so I was just holding her and she kept stealing my sunglasses and either trying to shove them back on my face, hit me in the face with them, or put them on her own face. It was not a very fun game. I did like the snuggle time with her, though. Once I got my glasses back and hid them behind my back. She kept crawling up me until she found them again! What a stinker. When I finally got them back I couldn't see out of them at ALL...they were all full of sunscreen. Thanks, Brooklynn. ;)

Finding Rocks

Brooklynn loved the rocks and the shells at the beach. (of course...that is her new thing.) It was so cute, she tried to pick up as many as she could and wouldn't put them down or give them to us. She would keep putting more into her hand until she would drop all of them and then it would start over. She just kept laughing and laughing like, "Wow, Mommy, there are rocks at the BEACH, too!"

Brooklynn's New Favorite Snack

Oh yeah. Brooklynn was using this shovel as a spoon and just going at the sand. I'm pretty sure she was MOSTLY just pretending...but there was definitely sand going in her mouth repeatedly. SO funny. Gross, Brooklynn!

Storehouse Beach Baptism

Around 3:30/4:00 in the afternoon it got FREEZING! The baptism wasn't scheduled to start until 7:00 so that meant several hours of waiting in the cold. It was a bonding experience. Look how foggy it was! We all prayed that it wouldn't start storming and God heard us! It didn't rain until we went home. Yay! (I guess we also should have prayed for warmth?)


I think Brooke thought she was going to get baptized. Look how sad she was when we broke the news to her that she wasn't going in the water this time!

7 People got baptized! Yay!

Yay, we made it without any rain! Some of us wentto Mack & Manco's Pizza afterwards to eat. Yum.
