Sleeping Beauty

So Gabby can pretty much fall asleep anywhere, as long as her binky is in her mouth or touching her face. (And by binky I also mean the other thing that is like a binky.)
Look at how tiny she looks in our huge bed.
Too tired to play anymore.
Gabby's favorite way to sleep...just in her diaper, arms up.
Now that she can roll over I'm too nervous to have her sleep on the couch so I put her on Brooklynn's couch. She doesn't know about this, so don't tell her.

28 months old

Brooklynn, you are almost 2 1/2. Crazy.
You are really keeping me on my toes. You are learning more and more words all the time. Almost every day you catch me off-guard and I think, "who taught you those filthy, dirty curse words you are repeating over and over?" And then I realize that you're either talking about your "shiRt" or your "foRk"...and not those words without the "R"s like you're actually saying.
You are really sweet with Gabby now. And I'm so thankful. Sometimes you're a little too rough, still. For instance, just this morning I had to tell you that Gabby's forehead and face are NOT a good place to drive your cars around. Next to her? That is ok. Just not ON her anymore. And when I tell you this, instead of being mad at me in protest and then hitting her, you just carry on driving your cars next to her. (thank goodness.)
You don't really listen to me or Josh, still. It's like the words just disappear into space and are never heard. We're working on that one. For now, you are truly perfecting the art of being TWO. And you're good at it.

Portable DVD Player

Instead of using our actual TV, Brooklynn prefers to use our portable DVD player to watch her movies these days.

Build-a-Bear

We took "Bruce" (Brooklynn's Build-a-Bear) back to get a summer outfit. It took her forever to pick out an outfit...it's just way too exciting there! She did have a great time giving Bruce a bath and pulling all the hearts out of the bear machine again.

I think we stayed a little too long...this is Brooklynn on the way out of the mall in the middle of Sears.

Bandaid Queen

So having a toddler while you're strictly babysitting a baby (did I mention she's a really LARGE baby? And LOVES to eat?) means having to clean up a lot of extra messes. Sometimes it's just easier to clean it up then try and prevent them. So this is what I found the other day after feeding Gabby. Yup...those Bandaids USED to be on top of the counter. The counter that I used to think was fairly child-proof. Nope. At least it was just bandaids that day. Today it was a bottle of Tums. I think she only ate one, though. It's always something.

No More Pictures, Mom!

So this is our routine with Brooklynn whenever we try and take a picture of her these days.

I do love the last shot of Gabby, though. Although Brooklynn was driving me nuts avoiding the camera so much, at least Gabby thought the whole charade was pretty amusing.

Dress Up

We like to play dress up in this house.
The picture on the left is Brooklynn wearing almost ALL of her dress-up clothes at the same time. She did this herself. Silly Brooklynn. The picture on the right I decided to do her hair like a true princess and although it was a little crazy, it was fun and she sat still so I put four pony tails on her head. And you know what? She really did look like a princess.

Just Some Naked Pool Time.

4 Months Old!

Gabby is 4 months old, already!!! I can't believe just how BIG she is. I went to take this picture and I thought to myself, "OK, I know she is a big girl, she weighs 16 pounds and everything, but when did she start to be THIS big?! Possibly overnight?"
Her colic is officially gone. YAY! (Hallelujah chorus singing in the background of my brain.) She is still fussy sometimes but then again so is every baby. Most of the time she is pretty happy, although she is living up to her namesake of "GABBY" (meaning she talks all the time.) Sometimes I think it's that she is whining a little bit but she just likes to jibber jabber. Maybe she'll be a singer?
Gabby likes to sit upright now. She can't do it by herself but she LOVES to be held on your lap sitting up. I think so she can have a good view of the world around her. She is really strong. Strong and heavy...brutal combination. Sometimes I break a little sweat when I have to wake up in the middle of the night and actually LIFT her to move her so I can feed her...that is how heavy she is. I love every bit of her, too. It's so different having a more chubby baby...Brooklynn was so skinny I'm not used to it. I love all her little squishy fat rolls. More baby to love is what I say. I know she will burn most of it off in just a few months when she becomes more mobile so I'm cherishing my little chubs.
Gabby can roll over from belly to back, and she has gone from her back to her belly on the bed, but I don't think it counts yet until it's on a harder surface. Today I put her in the crib under her mobile and she wiggled her way all the way in a circle so she was facing the other way when I went back in.
Her and Brooklynn are getting along a lot better now so I'm happy to report that it's officially safe to let her play on the floor when Brooke is awake. (Thank goodness!) Gabby is starting to fight back a little bit and loves to pull Brooke's hair and also kick her. Brooke thinks this is a great game and loves to "tattle" on her so it keeps them both very busy. There is also lots of kisses and raspberries. My life is a lot less like a referee and more like a parent now. So that makes me a lot happier.
Well, I can't write too much more now...they are finally both sleeping at the same time and really should clean up a little instead of ramble on here. (Sleeping at the same time to give me much of a break is a very rare occasion these days.)
