Don't Eat Daddy's Hair

The other day I was cutting Josh's hair like I usually do. But UNLIKE usual we now have a 7-month-old daughter who likes to get into everything. She's not even crawling yet but for some reason she is still hard to control. I set her up with some puffs all over a towel on the floor and set her on the towel. I thought it would be a fun "treasure hunt" for her. It was for a while. She seemed happy, I started to cut Josh's hair. In the middle of all this she kinda rolled over and was starting to whine to be sat up again. I went over, very careful to brush all the hair off of me and helped her up. I went back to continue Josh's haircut and Josh said something like, "Wait, wait, wait! No, Brooke!" Or something similar. I looked over and there was a black fuzzy thing on the floor that she was reaching for. I thought it was (gasp!) a spider, but it was just Josh's hair. I went over to get that away before she got it when to our surprise, she already had a different HUGE clump of hair and proceeded to shove it in her mouth. She looked up at me like, "I immediately regret this, please help me" and I tried my best to get it off of her hands and face. It is worse than sand, let me tell you. Combined with her wet drool it just sort of smeared. How gross.
I didn't have my camera with me, so no pictures, but use your best immagination. It was a classic.

Crazy Hair

Brooke woke up with exceptionally crazy hair Sunday morning. These pictures don't even do it justice.

Progress with Feeding Brooklynn

We have had MUCH more sucess in the food department lately! YAY! It turns out that Brooke just a: Doesn't like baby food, and b: Wants to feed HERSELF. So, we put her in her high chair and dump food on her tray and she is getting much more of it. The way things used to go were every single bite she would spit and spit and spit like she didn't like it, and we think she also thought it was fun to watch it spray everywhere. We've been experimenting with big girl foods like the puffs and we have branched out and tried very small pieces of Salisbury Steaks, cheese, deli turkey, chicken lasagne tiny pieces of fruit and veggies. So far she is loving all the meat. Just like her Daddy. When she has food in front of her I can even sneak in a couple bites of baby food (unless it's the baby cereals), or the baby yogurt. I'm thrilled about this new development because I don't really need to make or buy baby food any more, she still won't take a bottle so now we can feed her solids to tide her over, and it is just so nice that she is happy eating.

Annual "Beach Day"

So this year our Beach Trip happened at a pool. We still might go this weekend. But the day we had planned was supposed to rain all day, and there was a hurricane going on so we couldn't swim anyway b/c of the riptides. I didn't take a ton of pictures but I did manage to get a few cute ones in.

Silly Reading Time

Brooke's new favorite book. (Not counting Pajama Time, of course.) She didn't cooperate too well with the pictures, but usually she smiles so big and it is so fun to see her face when I read this to her in the mirrors.

Josh decided to get in on the action. (Actually he had no idea I took this. Ha ha.)

When I Wake Up...

This is what I get to see. I love my life.

Brooke's 7-Month Update

Brooke is 7 months old. I can hardly believe it. Pretty soon she'll be a year and I can't quite handle that.
Brooke is 18 pounds, 6 ounces and 28 1/2 inches long.
Brooke is still not crawling but she is very good at sitting up and rolling. She definitely gets to where she wants to go. Sometimes she even stays seated and bounces so much that she scoots right across the floor.

We had our own photo shoot today. She is getting a cold and wasn't in the best mood, but I did manage to get a few cute shots. Most of them she is flailing about so they are really blurry or she's trying to get away. Here are a few cute ones.
She has also really discovered the mirror and will smile all day at the cute baby in the mirror. She's one of her best friends.

Brooke LOVES her new sippy cup. I'm not sure if she's getting anything out of it. But at least it's a fun new toy.
Brooke is also getting so good at standing with our help and also holding onto stuff. We're a little nervous to let go, but she does really well.

We love you, Brooke! I wish you could stay little forever, but I do love watching you grow and learn so I guess you can keep getting bigger. I am doing my best to cherish every moment with you.

Brooke REALLY Likes Her Toys

I was trying to clean Brooke's room and I came out and found Brooke like this:
Isn't she a little young to be getting into things this much?

My Thought of the Day

I CAN'T WAIT FOR FALL!!!!
It's not only my favorite season, but it's been so hot lately I can't wait to have windows open and not have the air conditioning on all day. And, my AC in my car has been acting up so it will be nice not to overheat whenever I go anywhere.

1 Dress, 2 Babies

We let Myla borrow Brooke's dress for her first Sunday at church. It fit pretty well, considering it's 6-9 months. It ties around the top so it helped it fit better. It's a little short on Brooke since she's so tall, and she's close to being too big for it. I think it looks cute on both of them.

An Afternoon with the Murrays

It was so fun to see you guys! We're excited to do it again sometime, soon!
