Bring On the Solids!

So the "solid foods" aren't going that well. I thought to myself, "hmm...she liked holding the pizza and did great with that. Maybe she'll like the mesh feeder?" So we tried it. She loved it...one day only. Hates it now. Good thing I got some pictures when I did.

Come ON, Girls!

Is it too much to ask to get ONE good picture of my girls together in their pajamas?

First Teeth!

So Gabby cut her first TWO teeth! The first one came through the night before we drove home from Michigan. The second was a few days behind it. She is very excited about those teeth, and they even show up when she smiles now. She was NOT excited to let us take a picture. In fact, these two were the best from probably 50 pictures. (I'm not exaggerating.) So presenting....Gabby's first teeth.
And of course, Brooklynn was very willing and insistent that we take a picture of her teeth, too.

An Adventurous Drive Home...

Letting the girls hang out on our car before we left.
Hmmm...maybe this is why we had problems later?
So we borrowed my parent's car-top carrier for the drive home. We had lots of stuff and very little room. Man, we need a mini-van.
Not far into our trip Josh quickly pulled over because THIS happened.
Now what? So we decided to put our blanket OVER the tub as a make-shift lid. We put the bungee cord around it to hold it on and then put it back on top. It worked, but without that extra bungee cord they kept sliding back, and we almost lost them a few more times. We finally stopped again and bought some new ones which held out to the end of the drive.
On a side note...could we BE any more Redneck?

We also had a good opportunity to open the other part of Olive's gift to Brooklynn. It never got dark on the way to Indy so I saved it for the drive home. Boy was that a fun toy for a dark car! She LOVED it!!! We will have to remember that for future trips. Thanks, Olive! (And Rachel, too.)

Dolls

Adeline carried around her little Tangled and Eugene dolls all day after her party and the next day. I think she liked them. Good job, Aunt Erin!!

Surprise Bday Party for Grandpa

Saturday evening we decided to celebrate Grandpa's birthday since we were all together. It was pretty low-key but also really fun. I think he was surprised since his birthday wasn't for a few more weeks. Grandma put together a book of 60 stories that he likes to tell and we would start the story and then we had to try and finish the story. It was fun.

Meanwhile, I got this nice action shot. :) Andrew and Brooklynn kept hitting each other all weekend, almost like they are brother and sister. Just back and forth all the time. I think they were mostly love taps.
And then Brooklynn went over and gave Gabby a sweet hug. I didn't even tell her to. What a long way she's come with her.
Great Grandpa brought Brooklynn and Gabby (and Andrew, too) their own gifts so they wouldn't be jealous of all of Adeline's presents. That was very sweet. They love them, too. Brooklynn LOVES her ball, it's the same kind she is always trying to sneak into my cart at the store. And Gabby loves her water bomb toy, she chews on just about everything and we needed some extra bath toys so it is a fun one. Thank you, Grandpa!

Tangled Birthday Party

Adeline's big Tangled Birthday Party was finally here! She was so excited.
I just love this video of Adeline. She was running all over the place just SO excited for her party to start. She was doing it for a while before I got it, so imagine this but way, way longer. What a sweetie.
Adeline with some of her guests. Notice all the girls got long Rapunzel braids and the boys got Eugene wanted posters around their necks.
Good job with all the decorations, James!
Charity did a great job on all the food! Mmmm. (And well...everything else.)
This is a view of the party...there were like 50 or 60 people there. I'm not sure about the final count.
Gabby and Grandma Kay. I like your yellow hair.
This is my favorite picture of my girls. Gabby is just SO excited to be pulling Brooklynn's hair, especially since it's so long and yellow. And Brooklynn is, well...not too thrilled about this.
The busy birthday girl took a quick break to take a picture with her Aunt Bethany.
Charity did a great job on the cake. It was so cute and yummy, too!
We don't have many family pictures of the 4 of us...so I thought it was a good excuse to take one when there were other people around to take one for us.

Setting Up

While we did prep-work for the party...
the Bean kids spent the entire morning without any clothes.
 No, really...the ENTIRE morning.

I think it was partly to honor the whole "Birthday Suit" idea...I guess you get to be naked on your birthday, too. And on your cousin/sister's birthday. The good news is that all the grown ups wore clothes.

DONUTS!

Off to get donuts with Grandpa! I sent our camera with Josh to capture what goes on at these donut dates. Good work, Josh.
The kids kept hugging each other. I don't know if they were posed or if they were just so excited to be getting donuts they kept hugging? Either way, they are cute.
 Cute Andrew.
The kids eating their donuts. Of course Brooklynn stole one of Grandpa's donuts when we got home...she INSISTED it was the one she picked out.

Getting all Tangled

Adeline was SO excited for her party the next day. I thought giving her a special tangled braid would help her make it through the day with a little extra fun. She LOVED it.
As you can see, everyone was jealous of her braid and tried to get in on the action.
This is Gabby's "hairpiece" (?) I rigged up for her. She was too little to wear a different braid, and it just looked silly with a braid clipped on to her headband. Not that this doesn't look silly. But I wanted to make it seem like she had really long baby Rapunzel hair.
We got Addy the movie "Tangled". She was allowed to open it early because we wanted to watch it the night before. She was pretty excited.

And then we got to watch it again. Brooklynn looks terrified because she is so scared of the "mean Mommy Tangled"

It's so funny because before we bought the movie I asked Josh, "Are you sure you want to just give her a DVD? Isn't that kinda boring since it's not a toy?" Well...let's just say it went over WAY better than I thought.
